Automake substantially\nsimplifies the process of describing the organization of a package\nand performs additional functions such as dependency tracking between\nsource files.\n\nLibtool is a command line interface to the compiler and linker that\nmakes it easy to portably generate static and shared libraries,\nregardless of the platform it is running on.\n\nThis book is a tutorial for Autoconf, Automake and Libtool, hereafter\nreferred to as the GNU Autotools. The GNU manuals that accompany\neach tools adequately document each tool in isolation.
