After decoding, 'madplay' sends the output to an\naudio output module. The following audio output modules are provided:\n\n- Sun audio\n- CD audio (*.cdr, *.cda)\n- Audio IFF (*.aif, *.aiff)\n- Microsoft RIFF/WAVE file (*.wav)\n- Sun/NeXT audio file (*.au, *.snd)\n- raw PCM\n- hex (for debugging and compliance testing)\n- null (for timing the decoder)\n\n'madplay' will also read and display ID3 tag information, and further\nsupports the relative volume adjustment information (RVA2) in such tags,\nas written by tools like 'normalize'.\n\nMAD produces output samples with a precision greater than 24 bits. Because\nmost output formats use fewer bits, typically 16, 'madplay' implements a\ndithering algorithm when truncating samples for output. This produces high\nquality audio that generally sounds superior to the output of a simple\nrounding algorithm. However, dithering may unfavorably affect an analytic\nexamination of the output (such as compliance testing), and therefore it\nmay optionally be disabled at runtime.\n\nAvailable flavors:\n\tesd - additional EsounD interface module\n","package_architecture":"amd64","stem":"madplay","readme":null,"dependencies":[{"path":"audio/libid3tag","type":"library","package_spec":"","url":"/packages/current/audio/libid3tag/"},{"path":"audio/libmad","type":"library","package_spec":"","url":"/packages/current/audio/libmad/"},{"path":"devel/gettext","type":"library","package_spec":"","url":"/packages/current/devel/gettext/"},{"path":"devel/metaauto","type":"build","package_spec":"","url":"/packages/current/devel/metaauto/"},{"path":"devel/autoconf/2.59","type":"build","package_spec":"","url":"/packages/current/devel/autoconf/2.59/"}],"reverse_dependencies":{"count":3,"url":"/packages/data/5a/5a359e873edf92d34234bab219bddb678c19240695094fe338921fcdf21ce99d.json"},"categories":["audio"],"flavors":[],"only_for_architectures":[],"not_for_architectures":[]}}
